What Does Moxa Treat?

Moxibustion will increase blood flow and assist the lymphatic system to move and eliminate unwanted waste products.  The increase in blood flow also assists the body to heal faster and relax the muscles and tissues.  The heat emanated is helpful for those who suffer from lack of circulation and arthritis.  The patients that benefit most from moxibustion are those who notice pain is worse with cold or damp-cold environments.  I have found patients with knee pain, shoulder, ankle and other joint pains benefit from this therapy.  Moxibustion is also beneficial in treating certain digestive disorders, including, diarrhea constipation and bloating. It reduces pain from PMS.  Moxibustion can also boost immunity and help warm up specific points in the body that assist in warming core temperature for those who tend to have a cold predisposition.

I had a pinched nerve causing my finger to go numb for a couple of months, so I gave Maya a try. Never been to acupuncturist prior. The pinched nerve is gone and my chronic sciatica and lowback pain I have had for years is at an all time low, especially for the winter months. Thank You Maya!

Maya is a very gifted acupuncturist and healer. She has helped me tremendously with my anxiety, backpain and insomnia. She is warm and caring and has a great personality. She uses many tools like cupping and moxibustion in addition to needles. I strongly recommend her to anyone in either mental or physical pain!

Maya is amazing! I’ve been having such bad foot pain for the last 6 months and after just the first treatment I felt relief! She recommended some simple at home treatment that I have been also doing myself to help get rid of the pain. I’ve been getting acupuncture for only 2 weeks and the results have been wonderful. I have recommended Maya to some friends already!

I was experiencing chronic tension headaches for a a few months and I had to take ibuprofen multiple times a day to function and not be miserable. All that ibuprofen is not a good idea and I asked my primary care doctor for an acupuncture referral. I started receiving treatments from Maya and I was surprised how effective the treatments were. I started seeing a huge improvement after a few visits and now my headaches are pretty much resolved. In addition to the needles, she also tackled my problem with other methods like cupping and rapid release therapy. This is my first time receiving acupuncture treatments and Maya was fantastic in explaining everything very thoroughly and putting me at ease. She has great energy, cares about her patients and I would refer my own mother to her.

Maya is very friendly and flexible. She successfully treated my painful sciatica that had interfered with my jogging for years. Maya has the professional knowledge and technical skills to treat whatever ails you. I say this with authority because I personally studied acupuncture and tui na/massage when I lived in China.
