Maya is a Bilingual Spanish Speaking, Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Oregon.
She received her B.S. in Exercise Science at Southern Connecticut State University, where she focused her studies in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Nutrition, and Sports Psychology. After receiving her ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Certification in Exercise Physiology; she became a Personal Trainer and practiced as an Exercise Specialist for 8 years in various clinical settings across the country. She helped many patients rehab their Sports and Personal Injuries with exercise and nutritional guidance.

Why Acupuncture?
While practicing in various integrated facilities she witnessed many patients getting profound results with acupuncture. Patients boosted the benefits of acupuncture as pain relief, improved range of motion, decreased inflammation, and return to normal activities. Patient’s results became an inspiration for her to continue her health education path in the field of acupuncture.
In 2010 Maya moved to Portland, OR to attend the country’s top Traditional Chinese Medicine program, at OCOM (Oregon College of Oriental Medicine) earning a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, 2014.

What’s does Maya Martinez do in her free time?
Maya and her Partner Daniel, are extreme athletes. This has given Maya a unique look at injuries sustained by Climbers, Mountaineers, Surfers, and Bikers. With over 15 years of rock climbing. Maya has been pushing herself to overcome any problem she has faced. Maya has enjoyed surfing for 10 years.
Recently Maya has taken up Mountaineering, joining the Mazamas. After completing BCEP (Basic Climbing Education Program); Maya successfully summited 4 peaks in 2017; Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, Mount St. Helens, and The South Sister. In total, 5 summits for 2017. When Maya is not on top of a mountain she also enjoys world travel.
